Chapter 12 The Hidden Truth
Chapter 12 The Hidden Truth
"Boss, the quarterly inspection team sent me."
Qi Tongwei delivered a fatal blow, causing Fan Youliang's blood pressure to rise.
"Okay, okay, Qi Tongwei, you're awesome, you're great, you're my boss."
Fan Youliang was so angry that he couldn't even speak coherently.
"Director Fan, calm down. I'll buy a frozen watermelon later."
Fan Youliang's head ached again; Qi Tongwei's anger had triggered his old ailment.
"roll"
Gao Qi quickly helped Fan Youliang up. "Director Fan, are you alright? I'll take you to the infirmary. You, Qi Tongwei, have made Director Fan sick."
"Director Fan, don't take it to heart. Xiao Gao, quickly help the director to the infirmary."
Zhou Mei had no choice but to step in and smooth things over.
"Qi Tongwei, if anything happens to Director Fan, I will personally sue you."
Gao Qi seized the opportunity and desperately smeared Qi Tongwei.
"Gao Qi, how vicious you are! To suppress me, you actually said that Director Fan would suffer some misfortune. I think Director Fan will live to be a hundred!"
Qi Tongwei wouldn't tolerate him, nor could he admit defeat verbally.
"Qi Tongwei, you're slandering me, Director Fan! That's not what I meant."
Gao Qi never learns his lesson and gets pushed to the limit again.
Fan Youliang couldn't stand it any longer; if he continued talking, he might be implying that his funeral was tomorrow.
Gao Qi quickly chased after him, calling out, "Director Fan, wait for me!"
Qi Tongwei burst into laughter.
"You, you, can't you just be honest for once?"
Zhou Mei was disappointed in him.
"Sister Zhou, maybe I've been playing the role of a good girl for too long, and I lost control for a moment. I'll be fine in a couple of days."
Zhou Mei frowned, feeling helpless.
"Junior, let's go."
"it is good"
"When you get to the municipal bureau, you'd better behave yourself."
Zhou Mei still didn't forget to give further instructions.
"Okay, Sister Zhou, I'll call you Mom Zhou from now on."
"You bastard, get out!"
"Okay, Aunt Zhou."
Qin Xue was about to burst out laughing; Qi Tongwei was too despicable.
Watching Qi Tongwei and Qin Xue leave one after the other, Lin Kai felt a pang of jealousy.
Qin Xue is very beautiful; every man would be attracted to her, since men are visual creatures.
Lin Kai was no exception, but he wouldn't give up a better future for a woman, because his family had already introduced him to a girl from a very good family.
Qi Tongwei drove a second-hand motorcycle with a beautiful woman on the back, which aroused the envy, jealousy and hatred of many men.
Kyoto City Police Department.
Qi Tongwei showed his prosecutor's badge to prove his identity, and the security guards immediately let him through.
Zhang Zheng, the deputy captain of the criminal investigation team, brought Zhao Donglai to handle the coordination.
Qi Tongwei extended his right hand. "Hello, I'm Qi Tongwei from the procuratorate. This is my colleague, Qin Xue. We'll be troubling you today regarding Duan Xiaojun's case."
"Hello, I'm Zhang Zheng from the Criminal Investigation Team, and this is my colleague Zhao Donglai. I'm happy to assist you with anything you'd like to know."
Zhang Zheng and Qi Tongwei shook hands amicably.
Qi Tongwei followed Zhang Zheng to a small conference room, where Zhao Donglai brought over a stack of files related to Duan Xiaojun's case.
"Prosecutors, please take a look first. If you don't understand something, just ask me later."
"Thank you, Captain Zhang."
Qi Tongwei handed half of the materials to Qin Xue, saying, "Junior, thank you for your hard work."
Qin Xue nodded.
In the stairwell, Zhang Zheng and Zhao Donglai were smoking.
"Master, those documents are completely useless. Isn't this a scam?"
Zhang Zheng exhaled a puff of smoke. "Donglai, you and I both know what's going on with this case. There are some people we can't afford to mess with."
Zhao Donglai was indignant. "Master, that prosecutor just now, he's the one who helped us solve the kidnapping case. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Even if those people took the money, they would have killed the hostage. A Hong Kong businessman being killed, that's huge news!"
Zhang Zheng was once a passionate young man full of a sense of justice, but reality is cruel and cannot be changed by one person alone.
"Donglai, once the kidnapping saga has died down, he'll be in trouble. Right now, they're only holding back because of the Hong Kong businessman and Secretary Xu."
"Master, we clearly know that Duan Xiaojun is innocent. Are we just going to stand by and watch? Yang Ming suddenly appeared and took your position, all for Duan Xiaojun's case."
Zhang Zheng looked at his apprentice and realized that he was indeed a master of criminal investigation.
"Donglai, some things can't be rushed. You and I are just small people; we can't afford to lose, and we can't afford to gamble."
Zhao Donglai was very disappointed. "Master, I just don't understand. Duan Xiaojun is clearly an ordinary person, so why won't they let him go? The real culprit is still at large and might commit even more crimes. What will we do then?"
Zhang Zheng took a deep drag on his cigarette. "What else can we do? If we can cover it up, we will. If we can't, we'll just hold a few small fry accountable."
“Master, when I first joined the police force, you told me to always maintain a righteous heart, otherwise I would become a sinner. I have always remembered that.”
"I teach you to always uphold justice so that you won't fall into depravity like others, but not so that you'll recklessly try to kill yourself. In any struggle, you must use wisdom."
"Master, when will we have to wait?"
"As long as you uphold justice, justice will always prevail."
Qi Tongwei flipped through the files but had no clue whatsoever. He also realized that the police were deliberately going against his wishes. If Ji Changming hadn't intervened, he probably wouldn't have bothered to even pretend.
Yang Ming pushed open the door and entered; enemies meeting are bound to be furious.
Although he was not punished, the fear he felt when facing the top leader was instilled in him by Qi Tongwei, and he couldn't swallow that insult.
"You think you're so capable, you mere prosecutor? If you can't find evidence of police coercion, I'm not letting you off the hook."
Qi Tongwei felt an urge to slap Yang Ming when he saw his ugly face.
"You're in charge of Duan Xiaojun's case."
Yang Ming found it ridiculous. "Are you questioning me? Have you forgotten this is a police station?"
Qi Tongwei stood up, and Qin Xue's heart skipped a beat. She knew she had to have a strong heart to work on cases with him.
"I'm questioning you. If you force a confession from Duan Xiaojun, I'll have to send you back to jail."
Yang Ming laughed heartily, his eyes revealing extreme contempt, as if he wanted to devour Qi Tongwei.
"You're just a lowly prosecutor, making baseless accusations against a city police captain. With that alone, I can arrest you and detain you for ten days to half a month. If you don't show remorse, I can lock you up for a year."
Qi Tongwei burst into laughter, laughing so loudly that he clutched his stomach and tears streamed down his face.
"Damn it, how can someone be so ignorant about the law? Did you even go to elementary school? Tell me!"
Yang Ming's face turned green. He had indeed only completed one primary school, and Qi Tongwei had simply stepped on his landmine.
"Cuff him!"
Qi Tongwei slammed the documents in his hand to the ground. "Let's see who dares to handcuff me today! Damn it, they think they can fool me with a bunch of scraps of paper? Let me tell you, no way!"
Yang Ming clenched his fists tightly, his lips trembling with anger. "Don't my words matter? Cuff him!"
