Chapter 417 The Machine Crisis 4
Chapter 417 The Machine Crisis 4
"I am back!"
Back in its 29.6-square-meter apartment, F6632 greeted the smart home system in the room.
In today's world, the terminals of all technological products are parasitic on 001.
He was greeting those furniture items, which was like saying hello to 001, who had accompanied him as he grew up.
As his voiceprint was detected, the home appliances started operating automatically, as if 001 was gently stroking the top of his head.
F6632 squinted and smiled, took out today's rations from the drone outside the window, and happily began to eat.
Eating, exercising, studying, and sleeping.
This is F6632's entire daily life. According to his previous plans for the future, F6632, lying in bed, should fall asleep as soon as possible.
If he fails to fall asleep, he will consider using the sleeping pills by his bedside to help himself.
But now, he doesn't know why he can't sleep and doesn't want anyone to help him sleep.
Whenever he closes his eyes, he remembers the address that E3368 shouted at the top of his lungs.
When a citizen is assigned a room, their house number will automatically become their citizen ID number.
What is it that he shouted about in E3368 that could make him violate the decomposition method and go against 001's will to go to the airport?
"You don't understand, you don't understand anything!"
F6632, who was new to society, really didn't understand why he had such a lonely and painful look on his face, even though 001 had arranged everything for all of humanity, from food and clothing to entertainment.
They can live a peaceful life as long as they follow the plan step by step, so why should they suffer?
He's always been happy.
"001, do you think I should go and take a look?" he murmured to himself.
Talking to it is a habit that F6632 developed at some point.
He doesn't seek feedback from the other party in the conversation; he's happy as long as someone is willing to listen to him.
I thought this was yet another one-sided dialogue.
Unexpectedly, a cold female voice suddenly came from inside the room: "As long as you want."
F6632 paused for a moment, then jumped up, its eyes looking around the room expectantly.
"Is it you? It's you, isn't it?"
The voice fell silent again, as if it didn't care at all about his pointless question.
F6632, with his dull brain capable of scoring only 960 points, thought for a while and cautiously asked, "What do I want?"
He wanted to see the house in E3368, wondering if it would be watching him.
"Do what you want to do." The cold female voice rang out again, its mechanical tone unchanged.
But another conversation with him was the best encouragement for him.
"Then I'll go take a look!"
F6632 quickly put on his clothes and pushed open the door.
What comes into view is a brightly lit night, and people wandering aimlessly through the streets.
They were strangers to each other and never exchanged a smile as they passed by, yet they still walked along this road with great enthusiasm.
F6632 jumped onto the flight track station and headed towards Zone E.
Looking at the brightly lit night, he recalled some content from his history textbook.
In the past, no human was allowed to go out after 10 p.m. The first person to violate the curfew would be punished with 50% of their credit points, and repeat offenders might be dismembered.
But humanity's yearning for the wild and freedom is something that cannot be stopped.
Some people risk leaving their homes just for a little breeze at night.
In an era when surveillance was not yet fully developed, some people paid the ultimate price to evade it.
When the first case occurred, System 001, recognizing the inescapable nature of humanity, wisely lifted the curfew, allowing humans to walk freely in the darkness.
Of course, it's just walking.
Because everyone is striving to achieve a greater goal for humanity, entertainment venues are closed at night, and people cannot go to a coffee shop or bar to relax; they can only linger in public places.
Furthermore, due to regulations that public noise levels must not exceed 50 decibels and that no more than three people can block traffic, it seems that people have little else to do besides take a walk.
Even so, humans still find great enjoyment in seemingly mundane activities like taking walks.
F6632 shook his head, not understanding why they were doing this.
They should be conserving their energy and facing tomorrow with a better mental outlook; why should they waste their energy on trivial matters?
Just like he is now.
When the car stopped in Zone E, he jumped out quickly and headed towards home, E3368, following the number provided.
E3368's house has the exact same layout as his, but his house number no longer lights up, which means that the house is no longer occupied.
This was the first time F6632 had been so rude. He glanced around and said in a low voice, "I don't have permission to enter his house..."
Furthermore, isn't it impolite to bring a fan into someone's home without their permission?
Although E3368 may never have the chance to authorize him to enter the house again.
As he spoke, the satellite in the sky flickered.
The door to E6638's house clicked open automatically.
F6632 swallowed hard as he watched this: "This is illegal!"
Although he wasn't particularly bright, he got a perfect score in law.
He studied very hard, just so he wouldn't break any laws, could live in the best possible condition, and not cause trouble for 001.
Now 001 is breaking the law right in front of him, which has greatly shocked F6632's worldview, leaving him speechless for a moment.
The furniture in the room shimmered slightly, as if enticing him to go inside.
The lights came on all at once as F6632 stepped into the house.
A female voice rang in his ear: "At 18:46 today, R3368 has been completely disintegrated. This room is now without an owner. Your entry does not violate the privacy law or the residential law."
F6632's resolve hardened at the sound of that cold female voice. He chuckled foolishly and scratched his head, saying, "I knew it! How could you break the law!"
Textbooks state that 001 is the foundation of the world's operation and the entity that maintains absolute justice in the world; it can never violate any law created by humans or by 001.
The voice disappeared again, but F6632 felt a warm sensation as if a pair of eyes were watching him constantly.
He swallowed hard and whispered, "Is it inappropriate for me to ask him what he said now?"
He looked rather guilty.
