Chapter 232 What's wrong, are you jealous?
Qin Reng opened the email, which contained only one sentence:
"Mr. Qin, shall we talk?"
Qin Reng sneered. It seemed that some people were already unable to hold back.
Just as he was about to reply, he suddenly heard a scream from next door.
It's Yu Yuetong's voice.
Qin Reng suddenly stood up, rushed out of the study, and pushed open the door.
Yu Yuetong was holding her phone, her face pale, looking terrified.
"What's wrong?" Qin Reng walked quickly to her side and asked with concern.
Yu Yuetong handed him her phone with trembling hands. The screen displayed a text message from Ji Momo.
"She asked me to meet her." Yu Yuetong's voice trembled slightly.
Qin Reng took the phone, his brow furrowed. After thinking for a moment, he said, "I'll go with you."
Yu Yuetong looked at him in surprise, "You?"
Qin Reng nodded. "I can't let you go see her alone."
Yu Yuetong hesitated for a moment, but ultimately agreed.
As night fell, a black sedan slowly drove into the parking lot of an upscale coffee shop.
Yu Yuetong and Qin Reng walked into the coffee shop side by side and, led by a waiter, went to a corner seat by the window.
Ji Momo had been waiting there for a long time.
She was wearing a red dress today, making her look exceptionally beautiful. Seeing the two arrive, she smiled and said, "Mr. Qin, Ms. Yu, please have a seat."
After Qin Reng and Yu Yuetong sat down, the waiter brought them coffee.
Ji Momo stirred her coffee, her gaze sweeping back and forth between the two men before finally settling on Qin Reng. "President Qin, I think you should give me an explanation for what happened today, shouldn't you?"
Qin Reng said calmly, "What is Miss Ji referring to?"
Ji Momo chuckled lightly, "Of course, it's about the interpretation of 'affection'." She paused, a sly glint in her eyes, "After all, I don't want to be a third party who destroys someone else's marriage."
The air froze instantly, and the atmosphere became subtle and tense.
Yu Yuetong picked up her coffee, took a small sip, and the bitter taste instantly filled her mouth. Her eyes were lowered, her fingers unconsciously tracing the rim of the cup, her thoughts racing.
What does Ji Momo mean by that? What does "a third party who breaks up someone else's marriage" mean? Could it be that she has taken a liking to Qin Reng?
Thinking of this, Yu Yuetong couldn't help but glance at Qin Reng across from her. Coincidentally, he was also looking at her. Their eyes met, and Yu Yuetong saw a hint of barely perceptible mockery in his eyes.
“Miss Ji, you’re joking. There doesn’t seem to be such a deep emotional foundation between Mr. Qin and me.” Yu Yuetong put down her coffee cup and said calmly, “The so-called ‘affection’ is just an explanation to the outside world.”
Ji Momo raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Is that so? But when I was in the car today, I clearly felt Mr. Qin's care and concern for Miss. It wasn't an act."
Yu Yuetong's expression changed slightly. This woman really knows how to sow discord!
She took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "Ms. Ji's feelings are probably wrong. My relationship with Mr. Qin is more of a business partnership. As for his concern and care, perhaps it's just Mr. Qin's gentlemanly manners."
Qin Reng remained silent, listening quietly to the undercurrents between the two women. He picked up his coffee, took a small sip, and a playful smile curved his lips.
Ji Momo smiled and didn't pursue the matter further. Instead, she changed the subject, "In that case, Miss Yu, would you mind if we made a deal?"
"A deal?" Yu Yuetong feigned surprise, her eyes widening. "What kind of deal?"
“It’s very simple,” Ji Momo leaned forward slightly and said in a low voice, “I can help Miss Yu consolidate her position in the Qin family, and even make President Qin develop genuine feelings for you. In exchange, Miss Yu needs to do me a small favor.”
Yu Yuetong sneered inwardly; the fox's tail had finally been revealed.
"I wonder what kind of help Miss Ji needs?" she asked calmly.
Ji Momo smiled mysteriously, "Let's keep it a secret for now, Miss Yu. This deal is a sure thing for you."
Yu Yuetong remained silent for a moment, weighing the pros and cons in her mind. She and Qin Reng were now in the same boat; offending Ji Momo would bring her no benefit. Moreover, if she could get Ji Momo's help, she might be able to resolve her current predicament more quickly.
"I am indeed very interested in Miss Ji's suggestion," Yu Yuetong said slowly. "However, I am very curious, why would Miss Ji want to help me?"
Ji Momo chuckled lightly, "Miss Yu is so smart, how could she not understand my intentions? President Qin is young, promising, handsome, and rich. What woman wouldn't like a man like that?" As she spoke, her eyes glanced at Qin Reng intentionally or unintentionally, "I'm just... unwilling to accept it."
The air fell silent again, but this time, it carried a hint of ambiguity.
Yu Yuetong felt her temples throbbing. This woman was really bold and direct!
She glanced at Qin Reng instinctively, only to find him still composed, as if he were detached from the matter.
“I appreciate Miss Ji’s kindness.” Yu Yuetong withdrew her gaze and said in a calm tone, “However, Miss Ji need not trouble herself with matters between me and President Qin.”
Ji Momo's smile froze for a moment, then returned to normal. "Miss Yu, won't you reconsider?"
Yu Yuetong shook her head. "No need."
Ji Momo sighed, "Alright, since Miss Yu insists, I won't force you. However, I still have to remind Miss Yu that President Qin has quite a few women around him, so it won't be easy to gain a foothold."
Yu Yuetong smiled but didn't reply.
Ji Momo stood up. "In that case, I'll take my leave."
After watching Ji Momo leave, Yu Yuetong leaned back in her chair, feeling utterly exhausted.
"What, are you jealous?" Qin Reng's voice carried a hint of teasing.
Yu Yuetong glared at him. "What are you jealous of? If anyone should be jealous, it's you. After all, you're the one being coveted."
Qin Reng chuckled lightly, "I'm not that petty."
Yu Yuetong rolled her eyes, not wanting to pay him any attention.
“However,” Qin Reng paused, his tone becoming serious, “Ji Momo is not a simple person. You’d better be careful.”
Yu Yuetong nodded. "I know." She rubbed her temples. "I'm exhausted today. I want to go home."
Qin Reng stood up. "Let's go, I'll see you off."
The two walked out of the coffee shop side by side, a cool night breeze blowing.
Yu Yuetong tightened her coat and suddenly asked, "Qin Reng, tell me... how much of what Ji Momo said just now was true, and how much was false?"
Qin Reng did not answer immediately, but remained silent for a moment before slowly saying, "It's hard to say."
Qin Reng's voice was indifferent, "She approached you either to sow discord or because she genuinely wanted to help you. As for which one is true and which one is false..." He paused, "I'm afraid only she herself knows."
Yu Yuetong sighed, "Let's just deal with whatever comes our way."
She looked up at the sky, where stars twinkled and the night stretched endlessly. "Let's go back."
