Chapter 120 The Path of Defying Gods 12
Chapter 120 The Path of Defying Gods 12
The setting sun cast its golden rays upon the ancient temple, draping everyone in a veil of gold. Shen Ying, clutching the Stone of Revelation, glanced at Sion, Vaan, Cole, and Mina in turn.
Vaan stepped forward, his purple eyes filled with determination: "We, the Dream Clan, will continue to protect those forgotten truths, and look forward to meeting you again when the world has changed." With that, he turned around with Cole and Mina, their figures gradually disappearing on the path leading to the Dreamland, their black robes and gauze flowing in the wind.
Shen Ying watched their departing figures, knowing that after this parting, they would never meet again. When the game ended, if she completed the mission, she would leave this world; otherwise, if she failed, she would only be "annihilated."
“We should go.” Shen Ying looked at Sai En. Sai En nodded slightly, and the two turned and walked in different directions. There were no extra words; their tacit understanding flowed in silence.
Since Shen Ying and her group successfully obtained the Stone of Revelation, everything has undergone miraculous changes. Thoughts that were previously difficult to spread have suddenly gained wings and, with the mysterious power emanating from the Stone of Revelation, have rapidly spread among the people.
In the town square, people gathered, their eyes no longer filled with the confusion of the past. They discussed animatedly, from the trivialities of life to their ideals, from personal desires to moral principles. Some lamented how the wealth and power they had once blindly pursued seemed so empty in the face of true wisdom. Others began to reflect on their past actions that had harmed others, a deep sense of remorse welling up within them.
In the countryside, farmers sometimes sit down to reflect after a day's work. They ponder the meaning of their labor—is it merely to harvest food, or does it hold a deeper value? Young people are no longer content with the lives laid out for them by their elders; they want to explore what's more important in life: family, friendship, or a contribution to the world?
At the scholars' seminars, the atmosphere was even more vibrant. They compared the information from the Revelation Stone with ancient texts, attempting to decipher the true meaning of human existence. In schools, children also began to receive new ideological education, with teachers using vivid stories to guide them in reflecting on good and evil, right and wrong.
Shen Ying watched quietly as these scenes unfolded, a gleam of satisfaction in her eyes. She knew that they had lit torches in the darkness, successfully planting seeds of reflection in people's hearts. Those sparks were now burning fiercely, threatening to ignite a prairie fire. In this way, perhaps stopping divine punishment was truly just around the corner.
With this expectation, she involuntarily looked at Sion. And Sion, the god who was always calm and serene, actually smiled at her, a rare occurrence. That smile contained recognition of humanity, an acknowledgment of their beginnings of reflection and awakening.
In the bustling square, Shen Ying was explaining her plan to change people's fates. The crowd was absorbed in her words. Suddenly, Sain's brows furrowed, his previously calm expression turned serious, and a hint of wariness flashed in his eyes.
He suddenly revealed his divine nature, and before Shen Ying could react, Sain wrapped an arm around her waist. In an instant, a flash of light disappeared, and the two vanished without a trace. The people in the square were stunned, and the scene erupted in an uproar.
After a brief silence, someone said in a trembling voice, "Was that... a deity?" As soon as the words left their mouth, many people knelt down with a thud, their faces filled with awe. But others looked on with suspicion, whispering among themselves, believing it was just an elaborate hoax.
The god brought Shen Ying back to the temple, his expression more serious than ever before: "There are unusual movements outside the heavens. Those evil forces that I drove away are stirring again."
After saying that, he placed a kiss on Shen Ying's forehead with his soft lips, his eyes seeming to etch her image into the depths of his soul. Then he turned into a streak of light and disappeared into the temple, rushing towards the heavens to face the surging evil forces.
Before Shen Ying could even process what was happening, she saw the deity vanish before her eyes.
In that deep, dark temple, Shen Ying paced anxiously back and forth like an ant on a hot pan. Every minute and every second was endless torment for her; time seemed to stand still. Two days and two nights passed, and her eyes were bloodshot, her face haggard, and she appeared utterly exhausted and anxious.
Just as she was on the verge of a mental breakdown, Sain finally appeared at the temple entrance. He staggered, looking utterly exhausted, with several shocking wounds on his body. Golden blood seeped into his clothes, the mysteriously glowing blood staining his once pristine white garments with a unique brilliance.
The moment he saw Shen Ying, he forced a pale but incredibly gentle smile, as if to tell her not to worry. However, before he could speak, his body could no longer support him, and he slowly collapsed.
Shen Ying was frantic. She rushed over and used all her strength to support Sai En's swaying body. She gritted her teeth and used every ounce of her strength to drag Sai En's heavy body little by little towards his bedroom. Along the way, Shen Ying's forehead was covered with beads of sweat, but she didn't bother to wipe them away.
Finally, after settling Saien down on the bed, Shen Ying looked at his blood-soaked clothes and carefully changed them. She noticed that after Saien fell asleep, his wounds began to heal automatically, at a speed visible to the naked eye. Only then did Shen Ying breathe a slight sigh of relief.
Shen Ying stood quietly by the bedside, her eyes fixed on Sai En, her gaze filled with worry and concern.
Time flowed slowly in the tranquil temple. Suddenly, Shen Ying's gaze was drawn to a splash of azure—a sapphire brooch with a strikingly modern design. It was carefully placed, clearly a prized possession of the room's owner. Shen Ying's eyes were captivated; she stared at it for a moment before finally looking away.
After an unknown amount of time, Saien's eyelashes trembled slightly, and he slowly opened his eyes.
"You're awake!" A hint of surprise flashed in Shen Ying's eyes, her voice a little hoarse from not speaking for a long time.
Saien looked at Shen Ying with tenderness in his eyes. He was about to get up when Shen Ying gently pressed him down. "Don't move, just lie still," Shen Ying said with an unwavering determination.
"What exactly is that evil force from beyond the sky? How did you get injured like this?" Shen Ying couldn't help but ask.
After a moment of contemplation, a faint smile appeared on Sain's lips: "They were just some guys trying to disrupt the balance of the world. I've already defeated them." He said it casually, trying to reassure Shen Ying.
But how could Shen Ying not understand the danger involved? Even gods were injured and unconscious; the ferocity of the battle was unimaginable. Her eyes reddened slightly.
For the next two days, Shen Ying insisted that Saien rest and recuperate at the temple. Saien appeared to have fully recovered, but Shen Ying was still worried; she felt that the crisis had not been completely resolved.
These past two days, Sai En felt sorry for Shen Ying, seeing how much weight she had lost because she hadn't eaten, drunk, or slept due to worry. So he personally prepared a variety of delicious foods for Shen Ying, filling the table with them.
"Have something to eat. You've been working so hard these past few days," Sai said gently.
Shen Ying looked helplessly at the food on the table: "I can't eat. You just woke up, you should rest properly."
Said smiled and offered her a piece of pastry, demonstrating his determination through his actions.
Shen Ying couldn't refuse him, so she had no choice but to accept the pastries.
