Chapter 106 Testing
Chapter 106 Testing
Upon hearing Bai Mengfei's question, Jiang Fan slowly turned his head.
However, his gaze did not fall on Bai Mengfei, but instead he stared intently at the dust on the ground with a cold look.
Bai Mengfei was filled with curiosity and couldn't understand why Jiang Fan was staring at the ground, so she turned her head to look in the direction he was looking.
Only then did they realize that Jiang Fan's gaze was focused on a piece of wire on the ground.
Bai Mengfei's curiosity was piqued, so she turned around, bent down, and picked up the wire from the ground.
She held the wire between her fingertips, examining it closely, and the more she looked, the stranger it seemed.
After observing carefully for a while, Bai Mengfei asked Jiang Fan, "What's going on?"
Jiang Fan smiled slightly, then rolled up his sleeve and took the wire from Bai Mengfei's hand.
He glanced furtively at the workers repairing cars and whispered, "Someone here knows how to pick locks."
Instantly, the image of Fang Kai popped into Bai Mengfei's mind.
She quickly turned her head and scanned the crowd. After observing for a while, Bai Mengfei turned back to Jiang Fan, looking at him in surprise, and asked, "How did you know?"
Jiang Fan held the wire up to Bai Mengfei's eyes, gesturing for her to look at the curve on it.
Bai Mengfei looked closely and found that the curvature of the wire was indeed somewhat peculiar.
"It's strange, didn't you notice?" Jiang Fan asked.
"It's curved, is that anything special?" Bai Mengfei still looked blank.
Jiang Fan then patiently explained, "Look at these wear marks. They were clearly left when the lock was forcibly opened. The key is these details that are hard to detect with the naked eye."
Although Bai Mengfei didn't quite understand, she still said "Oh" and nodded slightly, pretending to understand.
In fact, she was completely confused at that moment.
Just then, Xiang Yuntian noticed the two were standing very close, seemingly discussing something, so he quickly walked over. Upon arriving, he coldly looked at Jiang Fan and asked, "What did you discover?"
At the same time, he subtly shielded Bai Mengfei behind him, protecting her with his own body.
Jiang Fan pursed his lips, pondered for a moment, and perhaps not wanting to repeat himself, turned around and continued to look for other clues.
Then, he actually squatted down in the corner and gently swept the dust together with his palm.
Xiang Yuntian is good at dissecting people and corpses, but not good at comprehensive analysis of crime scenes. He couldn't understand what Jiang Fan was doing at all, so he couldn't help him.
Bai Mengfei didn't understand either, but she was willing to learn.
After all, many clues at the scene are often closely related to the information conveyed by the deceased's body.
If Bai Mengfei could understand these things, her perspective on the case would no longer be limited to a single corpse, but would be able to conduct a comprehensive investigation from the macro environment to the micro details.
She hurriedly walked over to Jiang Fan, squatted down beside him, and turned to look at Jiang Fan, who had a serious expression on his face.
Jiang Fan stared intently at the sand he had swept together, his expression serious, his eyes unblinking.
Then, he lowered his head, closed his eyes, and pretended to be deep in thought.
Bai Mengfei couldn't tell what Jiang Fan was thinking, but she felt that he looked like a profiler, as if he could reconstruct everything that had happened in the past.
In Jiang Fan's mind, such a reconstruction was indeed taking place.
He imagined the bustling scene of people coming and going in his mind, while wondering if the murderer had ever been here.
But how can you tell just by looking at this little bit of dust? Why is this dust here?
Jiang Fan just noticed that the dust seemed to have fallen from the cement slab above.
But strangely, while other corners were cleaned very well, why was there so much dust here?
There is only one truth: this seemingly brand-new wall was once hit and was then renovated.
However, normally a car wouldn't hit this side after it drives in, because there's a pillar blocking the way.
So Jiang Fan thought to himself, someone must have been causing trouble here, leaving these marks, there's no doubt about it.
Having figured this out, Jiang Fan quickly turned his head and looked at the workers who were repairing cars.
They appear normal on the surface, but upon closer inspection, they all have bruises or scratches on their bodies.
Isn't this strange?
Out of curiosity, Jiang Fan stared at them intently for a long time. After a while, he put his hands on his knees, slowly stood up, and intended to walk over.
Actually, when Jiang Fan turned to look at the workers, Bai Mengfei also noticed something amiss and looked over in surprise as well. After all, she was a forensic doctor and was naturally very sensitive to these kinds of wounds.
Seeing that Jiang Fan was about to walk over, Bai Mengfei knew he was going to ask questions and, worried about alerting the enemy, reached out and grabbed his wrist.
But Xiang Yuntian noticed this little action.
It's hard for anyone to feel bad when their loved one holds hands with someone else.
Although Xiang Yuntian had read many books and was able to control his emotions, he still felt somewhat uneasy.
He didn't rush over and become hysterical; instead, he stood quietly and watched.
After observing calmly for a while, he strode over and asked, "What's wrong with you all?"
At this moment, Jiang Fan also didn't understand why Bai Mengfei had stopped him, so he turned his head in confusion to look at Bai Mengfei.
Bai Mengfei then realized that she had made a mistake because she was in a hurry, and quickly withdrew her hand and let it hang at her side.
She lowered her head in shame and remained silent.
Jiang Fan was young and impulsive. He was eager to find out the truth as soon as possible, so he walked directly toward the workers.
This time, because Xiang Yuntian was right next to her, Bai Mengfei didn't stop Jiang Fan anymore, thinking that if something went wrong, she could just adapt to the situation.
Jiang Fan walked over to a few workers and, in an attempt to build rapport, first squatted down.
Then, he asked with a smile, "Why do all of you have injuries?"
One of the workers tugged at his collar, trying to cover the wound on his neck, and said, "For us doing this kind of rough work, injuries are inevitable."
"Oh." Jiang Fan knew in his heart that the truth was not like that, and he probably guessed that someone had threatened them, so he continued to probe: "Could it be an injury like a knife cut on the back of the hand?"
The man with a knife wound on the back of his hand quickly said, "I accidentally cut myself with the chainsaw while I was cutting iron. Don't get in the way, we still need to fix the car!"
