Chapter 4403 Project Far Star (Twenty-One)

Arthur looked at the news headline and said with some confusion, "What's this 'snake' thing? And what does it have to do with Mars? Are there snakes on Mars?"

Mera, standing next to her, rolled her eyes and said, "You've been on land for so many years, how come you seem illiterate?"

“Sorry, I have a bit of a reading comprehension problem, especially when I see a bunch of similar sentences.” Arthur rubbed his eyes, nodded to the waiter who was serving the food, and then asked, “Have you heard of Martian civilization?”

Mera thought for a moment, then shook her head and said, "No, there really isn't, but the Ancient Ones might know. Do you remember when we went to inquire about the Mother Box, he mentioned that it came from a powerful extraterrestrial civilization?"

"Could it be Mars? But Martians were so powerful, how could they have gone extinct?"

Mera shook her head, indicating she didn't know either. But suddenly a gasp came from the next table; the man was holding his phone, talking to his female companion in shock.

Arthur peeked over and vaguely heard words like "Mars." But the news he saw didn't seem to offer anything that would surprise him; weren't they all just speculation?

Thinking of this, he casually swiped his phone and saw a new headline: "Latest photos taken by a Mars rover suggest a possible city on Mars?!"

Arthur gasped. He zoomed in on the picture and examined it closely. He realized it wasn't a fake; it really was Martian city. The skyline was exactly the same, and even the Darkseid spaceship hovering above the city was identical to the one he had seen before. The photo was real!

What surprised most people was the spaceship itself, because they had seen it over the east coast of the United States just two days prior. In other words, the invaders who invaded Earth just two days ago were Martians?!

This then connects to a previous report, specifically the alien spaceship depicted in the Serpent of Fringe fresco, which art critic Diana suggested might be related to Martian civilization. Now everything makes sense.

Years ago, Martian invaders visited Earth, only to be defeated by the Pharaoh. Undeterred, they continued to abduct people for experiments, which is the origin of those UFOs. Today, they have launched a powerful monster onto Earth, thankfully repelled by the Justice League. However, they haven't abandoned their evil invasion plans and continue to plot their invasion on Mars.

This is only the information available to the general public, and it lacks sufficient corroboration. However, those in higher positions know far more than this.

When Steppenwolf appeared in Metropolis, numerous military attack helicopters were present, and the recorded footage showed him seemingly searching for something. His subsequent trips to the Amazon and Atlantis also did not escape the notice of the intelligence organization.

Everyone was convinced that he had indeed come to Earth to find something. As for what he was looking for, no one knew better than these high-ranking officials.

The "Red Room" is a safe house built by the military and administered by the federal government, specifically for housing superpowered individuals and alien artifacts. It contains many extremely powerful items. However, the most mysterious of these is the "Cube," which mysteriously disappeared in an accident.

This accident was a car crash and resurrection staged by the military in order to gain control of Victor's father, Dr. Silas, and to utilize the powerful force of the cube.

That's right, the location backdoor device on Victor's mother's phone wasn't installed by Schiller; it actually happened.

Back then, the military already knew the cube was an extraterrestrial object and tasked Dr. Silas, an expert in extraterrestrial science, with studying it. Dr. Silas's research was successful, but he called the box Pandora's Box, believing that humanity should never open it. No matter how much pressure the military exerted, he refused to yield.

So the military installed tracking devices on his family members' cell phones and staged a horrific car accident that killed his wife and severely injured his son. Their aim was to force Dr. Silas to use the cube's power to save them.

Dr. Silas did indeed do so, but to the military's surprise, the cube's power far exceeded their expectations. Victor immediately broke free from their control, and then, with Superman's help, Dr. Silas also escaped the military's control. At this point, the cube was completely beyond their control.

The military was certain Steppenwolf was after the cube because, during the Justice League's battle with him, they discovered this monstrous creature was far more powerful than they had imagined. Even with several of the Justice League's most powerful superhumans working together, they couldn't defeat him. Therefore, of all the items in the Red Room, only the cube held value for him.

Another piece of evidence supports this: during the final beach battle, Steppenwolf showed a different kind of interest in Victor, attempting to capture him twice. The fact that Victor and the cube became one proves that Steppenwolf was indeed looking for the cube.

The higher-ups already knew the cube was an extraterrestrial object, something that had been accidentally lost to Earth, and that the aliens were likely to come looking for it. When Steppenwolf's spaceship arrived, it was impossible for them to detect it, so the location where the spaceship last stopped would be considered Steppenwolf and the cube's home.

Of course, the Justice League eventually boarded the spaceship, but because Bruce had Victor hack all the surrounding cameras and other devices, the higher-ups didn't know that the Justice League had boarded the spaceship.

In their view, the process went like this: Steppenwolf was defeated by Batman, and then the crew on the spaceship, seeing the situation was bad, prepared to escape. The spaceship's takeoff caused electronic interference, and for a period of time, the cameras captured nothing. When the interference ended, the spaceship and the Justice League had vanished.

The higher-ups don't care where the Justice League went; what they care about is whether the electronic interference released when the spaceship left was a sign of a guilty conscience.

After all, Earth isn't far from Mars, and this spaceship looks so advanced; it'll only take a short distance. If we don't interfere, they might realize the spaceship is heading to Mars. Doesn't that make sense?

Furthermore, many high-ranking officials know that Amazon has some connections and isn't made up of ordinary people. Since Amazon has come forward to say that Martians have visited Earth, it's highly likely that this is true.

Although the spaceship in the mural looks similar to the one that Superman punched and destroyed, it should logically be from Superman's hometown. But who says Superman's hometown can't be Mars?

Most people only know that Superman is an alien, but they have no way of investigating which planet he comes from.

Ultimately, humanity is still a weak surface civilization with extremely limited means of exploring the universe. The only person in the entire Federation who could be considered an expert was driven away by them. This means they cannot prove that the spaceship in the Arctic, Superman from outer space, the spaceship destroyed by Superman's punch, the aliens who landed in ancient Egypt, the spaceship in near-Earth orbit, Steppenwolf's spaceship, and the cube did not originate from the same planet.

In their view, these things all came from an extraterrestrial civilization with advanced technology. Compared to Krypton, which is nowhere to be found, Mars, with its massive city directly photographed, is of course more conclusive evidence.

Of course, it wasn't that no one noticed that the small, squid-like frigate that was blown up with a single punch had a slightly different style from the giant spaceship hovering above Mars City.

The problem is that this small frigate is completely different from the spaceship in the Arctic and the Kryptonian flagship in low Earth orbit.

The squid frigate looks like a bionic spaceship, the Arctic ship looks a bit like a flying saucer, the Kryptonian flagship looks like the Millennium Falcon, and the Steppenwolf ship has a minimalist feel to it. None of these have anything in common with each other.

Not to mention, Superman looks like an ordinary human, Doomsday looks like a mutated Ninja Turtle, Steppenwolf looks like a yak that has become a spirit, and the Parademons are a hybrid of bio-mechanical modifications. These so-called alien creatures don't look alike at all, so judging whether something comes from the same planet based on its art style is not a reliable method.

After all, humans come in many colors, and the architecture and creations of different countries have very different styles. Perhaps there are also several countries on other planets, and they all look very different. So it's not reasonable to use different art styles as a basis to refute the claim that they don't come from the same planet.

In fact, after the photos of the Martian city were exposed, there was only a brief period of public excitement, a few meetings at the higher levels, and then the matter was dropped.

After all, they were used to this kind of thing. Krypton's flagship was still in near-Earth orbit, which didn't stop the Capitol from continuing to argue about the vote. As long as the aliens didn't invade, they weren't worried.

What truly fueled this hype was the launch of a completely "Mars-like" space station.

Once launched, this thing will be positioned next to the International Space Station, and you can see it from the windows of the International Space Station. It looks like a telescope and seems to defy the laws of physics.

The higher-ups were really worried. What did this mean? It meant that the Martians had invaded! Otherwise, why would something so obviously from an alien civilization be launched from Earth?!

If aliens launch a military attack from the outside, even if the sky falls, the Justice League will be there to hold it up. Steppenwolf is incredibly strong, yet he was still defeated by Batman in the end. Batman punched out the world's largest ocean trench; what is there for Earth to fear from an alien invasion?

What's truly making them anxious is the crucial question: when is it? This is a critical time to decide whether or not to hold a revote!

In the eyes of politicians, nothing is more important than whether they can be re-elected, whether it's an alien invasion, the destruction of Earth, or Martian cities.

Now you're saying Martians have infiltrated our ranks, but aren't there Martians among the voters? Aren't there Martians among those counting the votes? Aren't there Martians among those preventing a revote?

Regardless of whether you're from Mars or not, if you don't align with my interests, then you must be a Martian, because Martians don't have the legal political right to vote, let alone prevent a revote. By labeling all dissidents as Martians, I can naturally achieve my goal.

Bruce's launch of the Martian space station was like dropping a depth charge into the federal political arena. For their own and their party's benefit, politicians spontaneously launched a massive "witch hunt," with accusers and accusers, hunters and hunted, fighting each other fiercely and without giving an inch.

In just one week, the entire federal leadership was in an uproar.

At first, it was just mutual attacks and manipulation of public opinion, but after the first murder, everything started to spiral out of control.

Clark Kent, who had just returned to Earth and was on orders from his editor to interview the head of the Metropolitan City Planning Department, stared in disbelief at the corpse lying in front of him, his hand holding the camera trembling slightly.

The man was dead, and he was all alone in the room. The good news is, he was an alien; the bad news is, he was fighting an alien.

Kekeken is in big trouble
