Chapter 3971 MU: The Superbody Incident (Fifty-One)
"Hey, here you go." Spider-Man handed a wrench to the figure beside him. It was Batman with a mechanical body. The two of them were currently inside the Batcave, filled with various mechanical equipment, repairing a dilapidated mech.
"Where was I?" the mechanical Batman said, feigning recollection. "Oh, I was about 16 years old then, not much older than you. Before I set off to travel the world, Alfred told me to go see the Caucasus Mountains..."
Spider-Man listened to his story about Alfred while tightening a screw, then nodded and said, "That's great. I also want to travel the world. Unfortunately, I don't have that much money or time. Luckily, there's the Fighting World; I've already visited quite a few cities for free."
"Oh, where have you been?"
“I went to Gotham the most,” Spider-Man said. “I even wrote a book called ‘Gotham Travelogue’ about Gotham in the main universe. It was a huge hit; almost every Spider-Man has read it. Actually, I just wrote it as a diary at the time, and I never expected it to be so popular.”
"So you're that great writer Spider-Man." The mechanical Batman's tone held a hint of amusement as he said, "I've heard your companions say that you were not only the first brave soul to try something new, but you also provided a very good manual of experience for those who followed."
Spider-Man scratched his head shyly and said, "Actually, that's nothing. There are plenty of people who have written better than me. I know you're trying to encourage me, but please don't keep praising me like that, or I'll become vain and complacent."
“Actually, your literary talent is probably your least remarkable talent,” the cyborg Batman said. “I never expected you to be able to tinker with these mechs. Did you study this in college?”
"Ah, no. I learned this in the Stark Industries lab. You know, Iron Man has a lot of these suits of armor, and I like to study them in my spare time..."
*Snap.* The power suddenly went out. Spider-Man jolted awake.
"Don't worry, it might be a problem with the lighting power supply..."
"No, something's coming!" Spider-Man shouted, raising his voice. "150 feet! 80 feet! 30 feet! He's coming!!!"
By the end, Spider-Man was practically screaming. Just as he finished speaking, the mechanical Batman's body suddenly trembled.
Spider-Man jumped more than two meters high, almost crashing headfirst into the ceiling of the Batcave. After landing, he looked left and right, then immediately unplugged a connector from a large machine next to him, ripped off the front end, and connected the wire directly to the metal body of the mechanical Batman.
Zila——! ! !
A blinding flash of electricity illuminated the pitch-black Batcave. The massive surge of current that passed through it in an instant was the bane of any mechanical body. The mechanical Batman's body short-circuited instantly, collapsing stiffly to the ground.
Spider-Man quickly ran to a nearby cabinet and retrieved the backup device. After hesitating for a moment, he didn't connect it directly to his body. He thought for a moment, then carried the backup device close to his body, hoisted the fallen body onto his back, walked out of the Batcave through the main entrance, and threw the body outside.
Then, carrying the backup device, they returned to the Batcave, locked the door, and made their way down to the safe house. Once inside, they attached the backup device to the spare body.
A few minutes later, the robotic Batman awoke. He looked at Spider-Man and said, "This is a backup consciousness? What's wrong?"
“Something invaded the Batcave and took your body directly,” Spider-Man said. “I sensed it, but it came too fast. I only had time to short-circuit the body and throw it outside the Batcave, and then activate your backup consciousness.”
“That was fantastic, boy,” the mechanical Batman exclaimed. “He probably didn’t have time to completely absorb my original consciousness. Let’s go up and see what happened.”
“Be careful,” Spider-Man said. “He’s been planning this for a long time, and he’s coming for you. Maybe I should go up and scout ahead first.”
“No, I have to go up and see what he’s up to.” The cyborg Batman left the safe house and headed upstairs. Spider-Man had no choice but to follow him.
The mechanical Batman quickly pulled up the security camera footage from the entrance to the Batcave. The moment the camera opened, it captured the body from before swaying as it stood up and walked away as if nothing had happened.
"Good heavens," Spider-Man exclaimed, "he just stole your body. What's he going to do?"
The cyborg Batman shook his head, indicating he didn't know either. He said, "I'm going to a meeting in the main universe soon, maybe I can tell the other Batmen about this, they should have some ideas."
Spider-Man nodded and said, "You should go to the main universe. I heard there's a magical defense network there, so they won't be able to attack you. Don't wait any longer, let's go."
The mechanical Batman didn't dawdle and headed to the main universe as fast as he could. He thought he was early enough, but when he arrived at the Hall of Justice, almost all the Batmen were already there, engaged in a lively discussion.
The mechanical Batman found the main universe Batman in the crowd and said, "Breaking news, that Ultron went crazy for some reason, suddenly attacked me, and stole one of my bodies."
Surprisingly, Batman from the main universe wasn't surprised at all, and looked at him, saying, "Your universe has appeared too?"
"What the hell?!" A female voice suddenly rang out. Both the mechanical Batman and the main universe Batman turned around simultaneously, seeing Batwoman approaching, cursing and yelling, "Has Ultron gone mad?! Why did he activate those machines in the ancient city of Atlantis?! He even stole the body of a divine puppet!"
The main universe's Batman narrowed his eyes. He knew, of course, that Atlantis was an ancient civilization with a glorious past before it sank, its technology even capable of reaching space at one point. Moreover, due to the existence of some kind of divine power, they had robot-like puppets to help them work, as well as some specialized combat puppets, all piled up in the ancient city ruins.
The robotic Batman rushed over and asked, "You were attacked too? Even in the water?"
“Water isn’t a perfect barrier,” Batwoman said. “This cunning guy used a feint, making us think he was going to attack the Atlantis shield directly, but instead he ran off to the ancient city to steal the puppets!”
"He succeeded?"
"I guess so. Those puppets were originally activated with divine power, so they shouldn't be able to be controlled by radio waves. But Atlantis crashed too suddenly, and many puppets buried deep underground didn't have time to take their cores, which means they still had electricity. This guy found a puppet in good condition, punched a hole in Atlantis's shield, and then ran away."
“So you guys have encountered this situation too,” the Flash Batman said, arms crossed. “In my universe, Ultron bribed the Puppeteer to create a Frankenstein’s monster body for him, and even went to the League of Assassins to soak in the Lazarus Pool. Although his physical strength isn’t great, he’s impossible to destroy. I’ve broken him up several times, but he’s always managed to reassemble.”
"My universe is the same. He dug up an ancient Titan weapon from somewhere and gave himself an indestructible body. Even the latest version of the Batdart can't break through its defenses."
"My universe's is even more outrageous. It directly stole the bodies of the undead researched by the Court of Owls and killed all those claws by itself. I chased it for a long time but couldn't catch it."
"You guys are pretty good. The anti-Superman weapon that my universe stole from Lex Luthor is an unfinished Kryptonite robot. Its physical strength is truly amazing..."
The Batmen were buzzing with discussion. The Batman from the main universe, his brow furrowed, took a deep breath and said, "Something must have caused this change. What happened?"
Suddenly, he looked into the crowd and realized that one of the Batmen seemed to be missing. He opened the communication channel and messaged Arkham Batman: "Have you arrived? What happened?"
"Wait for me." The Arkham Batman replied with only a brief sentence, but the main universe Batman could see an extremely strong killing intent in it.
At this moment, Doom and Stark each stood in a corner, while the fully armed Batman of Arkham stood in the center of the room watching the two of them.
"You mean, you used your strongest technology and best materials to create a super, invincible, perfect biological weapon, and then let Ultron take it away."
“No, let me explain,” Stark said. “In fact, we created a perfect magical life form and had Ultron help her ignite it. Now the two of them are together.”
Batman Arkham hurled a dart, which grazed Stark's scalp. Doom quickly gave Stark a look and whispered, "Keep your mouth shut, you sound like a mad scientist."
“Like?!” Arkham Batman raised his voice.
"Ahem, Doom believes our plan has been executed perfectly and the results are quite good. We can wait and see how it goes."
"Wait a while? How much longer can the universe exist?!"
“That’s not important,” Stark said. “You have to trust us; this plan is very meticulous and rigorous. Besides, science inherently requires a certain amount of adventure, and you can’t be too rigid and conservative. As a scientist, you should understand that better…”
"I'm not one of those crazy scientists!" Arkham Batman regretted saying that as soon as he finished speaking. He was so angry that he only wanted less understanding and tolerance, and more blame and abuse.
“It definitely works,” Stark said tentatively, stepping forward. “You see, after they activated each other, they didn’t stay in your universe or cause any trouble; they just left immediately. They definitely went to cause trouble for someone else.”
"Who else is that?"
“Uh…” Stark thought for a moment and said, “Ultron from another universe? Even if it’s a superhero from another universe, it’s not a big deal. Batman can definitely handle it.”
Batman Arkham rubbed his forehead hard. He had been wondering what that trio of thieves, who made money by murder and embezzling, could do with hundreds of billions of dollars in a week. He was still wondering where they would spend that money.
Now it seems this isn't a team, it's practically a gang! A complete operation involving murder, robbery, and reimbursement: Natasha was in charge of causing the accident, Shiller was in charge of extorting money, Nick was in charge of making the payments, and the two mad scientists were in charge of disposing of the stolen goods—what a macroeconomic scheme!
Batman from Arkham again covered his eyes with his palms slightly downwards, using all his wits to figure out how to cover it up.
He now understands a bit of the struggles of the main Marvel universe. This kind of thing that has caused such a huge mess really can't be exposed, otherwise his universe will be completely unable to survive in the multiverse.
Of course, it's not that he wanted to hide the truth or delay the process, but rather that the process needed to be embellished a little. Arkham Batman took two steps forward, shoved Stark back against the wall, and said, "Listen, there was never any human creation plan. It was all an experimental error, okay?"
"What?! But I should have the right to be credited for such a perfect body..." Before Stark could finish speaking, he saw the burning killing intent in those blue eyes hidden in the shadow of the mask.
He swallowed hard, quickly made the sign of the cross on his chest, and said in a sorrowful tone, "Okay, it was an experimental accident. It was all God's arrangement. It's so unfortunate."
Arkham Batman couldn't help but curse inwardly: Why are all the people in this universe like this...? Who do you think they take after?
