Chapter 869 Debt
Chapter 869 Debt
Uncle Chen paused while cleaning the tea set. He had his back to Jiang Mubai, so he couldn't see the expression on his face. After a long while, he slowly spoke, "Miss, some things should be left in the past. Knowing too much is not good for you."
"But..." Jiang Mubai wanted to say something else, but was interrupted by a rapid knock on the door.
"Knock knock knock!"
"Miss, are you there?" A strange male voice came from outside the door.
Jiang Mubai and Uncle Chen looked at each other and saw confusion in each other's eyes. This villa rarely has outsiders visiting, who could it be?
"Who is it?" Jiang Mubai asked in a raised voice.
"I'm... I was sent by Mr. Lu to deliver something to you." The person outside the door sounded a little flustered.
"Mr. Lu?" Jiang Mubai was even more confused. She didn't know any Mr. Lu, so who could it be?
"Let him in." Uncle Chen winked at Jiang Mubai, signaling her not to act rashly.
Jiang Mubai nodded, but she became more alert in her heart. She vaguely felt that something was going to happen...
Jiang Mubai's heart was filled with alarm. Mr. Lu? She didn't remember knowing anyone with the last name Lu. Uncle Chen's expression also turned ugly. He walked quickly to Jiang Mubai and said in a low voice, "Miss, please go in first. I'll take care of it."
"But..." Jiang Mubai wanted to say something, but was pushed into the room by Uncle Chen.
"Don't worry, Miss, I'll be fine." Uncle Chen said, gently closing the door.
Jiang Mubai looked through the crack in the door and saw Uncle Chen take a deep breath, put on a kind smile, and open the door.
"You must be Mr. Lu, right? I've heard a lot about you. I'm the housekeeper here, and you can call me Old Chen." Uncle Chen's voice sounded as steady as ever, but Jiang Mubai could still hear a subtle tremor in it.
A tall man stood outside the door, wearing a black cap with the brim pulled down low, covering most of his face, revealing only his well-defined chin and a pair of deep eyes. He was wearing a black casual suit and carrying a black backpack. He looked inconspicuous, but exuded an inexplicable sense of oppression.
"I've delivered the item, please sign for it." The man ignored Uncle Chen's politeness and spoke coldly. His voice was low and magnetic, but people could not feel a trace of warmth.
He took out a file bag from the backpack behind him and handed it to Uncle Chen.
Uncle Chen didn't answer immediately. He looked at the man carefully and asked tentatively, "Excuse me, who are you..."
"Don't ask questions that you shouldn't ask." The man interrupted Uncle Chen impatiently, with a hint of warning in his tone.
Uncle Chen's face changed slightly, but he still endured it. He took the file bag and was about to close the door, but the man suddenly stretched out his hand and blocked the door.
"Wait," the man paused, looking past Uncle Chen towards the direction of the room, "Where's the eldest lady? I have something to say to her alone."
Uncle Chen was startled. He subconsciously wanted to refuse, but he heard Jiang Mubai's voice coming from the room: "Uncle Chen, let him in."
Uncle Chen sighed helplessly and had to move aside to let the man enter the room.
After the man walked into the room, he closed the door. He took off his hat, revealing a sharp-edged face, sharp eyebrows, starry eyes, a high nose bridge, and thin lips. He exuded a cold aura that kept strangers away.
Jiang Mubai finally saw the man's appearance clearly. She was slightly stunned and felt a sense of familiarity inexplicably in her heart, as if she had seen this person somewhere, but she couldn't remember where for a moment.
"You are..." Jiang Mubai asked tentatively.
The man did not answer. He walked straight to Jiang Mubai, stared at her with burning eyes, and said word by word: "Jiang Mubai, we... finally meet."
His voice was low and hoarse, as if it had some kind of magic, which made Jiang Mubai's heart beat faster. She had a premonition that this man would completely overturn her life...
The man's deep eyes seemed to suck Jiang Mubai in. He opened his thin lips slightly, and every word he uttered seemed to strike Jiang Mubai's heart, "Jiang Mubai, I am..."
"Mr. Lu," Uncle Chen suddenly interrupted the man, "The eldest lady is feeling a little unwell. If you have anything to say, you should tell me first."
The man glanced at Uncle Chen coldly, with a hint of warning in his tone, "When is it your turn to interrupt me when I'm talking to my fiancée?"
"Fiancée?!" Jiang Mubai and Uncle Chen exclaimed in unison.
Jiang Mubai felt it was ridiculous. She didn't even know the man in front of her, let alone his fiancée! "Sir, I think you must have recognized the wrong person. I don't know you."
The man ignored Jiang Mubai and walked to the sofa and sat down, crossing his legs. His posture was lazy but revealed an unquestionable dominance. "Jiang Mubai, don't play dumb. Your father made the marriage promise himself. Do you want to deny it?"
"My father?" Jiang Mubai was even more confused. She lost her mother when she was young and depended on her father for everything, but her father had never mentioned any engagement.
"Who are you? Where is my father now? Why doesn't he come to see me in person?" Jiang Mubai asked a series of questions, his tone full of anxiety and uneasiness.
The man chuckled, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone, "Why? Didn't your father tell you how much money he owed my Lu family? Now he can't take care of himself, so naturally he has no time to see you."
"You're talking nonsense! My father..." Jiang Mubai wanted to refute, but Uncle Chen held his hand.
Uncle Chen shook his head at her, signaling her not to irritate the man again. He took a deep breath, lowered his voice and said to the man, "Mr. Lu, our master has indeed encountered some difficulties, but he is definitely not a man who goes back on his word. Please give us some time, and we will definitely settle this debt as soon as possible."
"Time?" The man sneered, "You've dragged it on for too long! I came here today to bring my fiancée back!"
After saying that, the man stood up suddenly, grabbed Jiang Mubai's wrist, and pulled her to his side, "From today on, you are my Lu Qing's woman!"
Jiang Mubai's wrist bones were pinched by the man's iron-like hands, and she struggled to shake them off, but to no avail. "Lu Qing, let me go! I don't even know you, and I won't go with you!"
"It's none of your business!" Lu Qing announced domineeringly, and forcefully pulled Jiang Mubai out.
"Let go of the young lady!" Uncle Chen saw this and rushed forward to stop her, but was stopped by the bodyguards behind Lu Qing.
"Uncle Chen!" Jiang Mu rolled her eyes as she watched Uncle Chen being stopped. She was extremely anxious and bit the back of Lu Qing's hand hard.
"Hiss——" Lu Qing felt pain and subconsciously let go of his hand.
