Chapter 4005 MU: The Superbody Incident (Eighty-Five)
"It's the gods!" Wonder Woman shouted first. "Adjust formation immediately and prepare to engage the enemy!!!"
The superheroes dared not be careless; they had witnessed the power of the gods firsthand. Wonder Woman's hands flashed with divine power, the Flash transformed into a golden streak, Martian Manhunter assumed a battle stance, the Green Lanterns tightened their formation, and Shazam raised one hand, shouting, "Shazam!!!"
Before anyone arrived, a bolt of lightning seemed to have originated from the very beginning of the Big Bang. In an instant, a blinding light erupted, illuminating the entire universe, as if one were instantly placed at the core of a star, the light and heat overwhelming. Beyond the lightning, a desolate echo reverberated, a force of primordial new life emanating from the very origin of the universe.
Wonder Woman lowered her arm from her eyes, her expression darkening, and said in a very serious tone, "The other side has a true god."
"A true god?" Martian Hunter asked.
"Yes, we also call them 'Primordial Gods,' referring to those deities who control the most fundamental energies of the universe. These powers do not involve societies built by intelligent beings, but are natural forces that exist regardless of whether there is life or not. For example, Zeus, who controls thunder; Hades, who controls death and decay; and Theia, who controls light. These gods may not be good at fighting, but their power is more destructive than anyone else's."
"Was that lightning bolt just now from the hand of a true god?"
"According to our evaluation criteria, yes."
"What power does he possess?"
“I can feel a creative force,” Wonder Woman exclaimed, shaking her head. “It’s incredible. He has combined thunder and fire into the primordial force of life. This force is so powerful, almost inexhaustible, that even Zeus might not be his match.”
Martian Manhunter's expression also turned serious. Even a powerful hero like Diana was only a demigod, and there are gods above gods; this was destined to be a bitter battle.
Asgard didn't keep them waiting long. In the blink of an eye, several small battle ships had surrounded them. The first to jump from the ships was Thor from the main universe. He extended his hand, holding Mjolnir, pointing it at Wonder Woman and the others, saying, "In the name of the Allfather, this battle bestows upon us unparalleled glory!"
"For justice!" Wonder Woman declared defiantly.
The two attacked almost simultaneously. Wonder Woman swung her whip, her lasso nimbly wrapping around Thor's wrist, and lightning shot out from Mjolnir like a bowstring, heading straight for Wonder Woman's face. In an instant, everyone clashed, the arena ablaze with light and thunderous roar.
Thor first unleashed a bolt of lightning at Wonder Woman, then grabbed the Lasso of Truth and pulled her back sharply. Wonder Woman, not to be outdone, activated her divine shield, ignoring the lightning overhead, and pulled Thor back herself, then delivered a powerful whip kick to his chest. Thor was knocked back a few steps, but turned and swung his warhammer, aiming for her shoulder.
Wonder Woman crossed her arms to block his attack, took a few steps back, then bent to the right to dodge his swing, straightened up, and delivered a knee strike. But the Aesir's abdomen wasn't a weak point; Wonder Woman charged in with all her might, but Thor didn't budge. She knew something was wrong. Sure enough, the next second, lightning erupted, and the powerful electric current fueled by divine power sent Wonder Woman flying.
“Don’t get too close to him,” Martian Manhunter Ron’s voice echoed in Wonder Woman’s mind. “Maintain mid-range combat and utilize your weapon advantage.”
Wonder Woman turned to look and saw Martian Manhunter locked in combat with another Thor. He neither moved away nor close, using mind control and heat rays to continuously damage Thor and deplete his divine power.
Wonder Woman inwardly groaned. If she had that ability, she would certainly use the same fighting style. But on the one hand, she didn't possess telepathic abilities and couldn't slow down Thor's movements, and with Thor's speed, dodging the Lasso of Truth's attack would be too easy.
On the other hand, although she could choose to use her divine power to attack the opponent in a laser-like manner, that would be too wasteful and would have no sustainability whatsoever.
Moreover, she lacks Martian Manhunter's ability to become ethereal, and can only rely on her own divine power shield to withstand all attacks. However, Thor's attacks are powerful and heavy, and combined with lightning, even if she can withstand them, she will feel numb all over, severely affecting her speed and reaction time.
Meanwhile, Thor, facing Martian Manhunter, was inwardly cursing: Wasn't this guy supposed to be a psychic like Professor X? Is the intelligence agent a mole? You only mentioned that he has psychic abilities, but you didn't even mention his other abilities that are almost identical to Superman's, or even surpass them!
After temporarily repelling Wonder Woman, Thor in the main universe realized his counterpart was at a disadvantage and immediately rushed to help. He started with lightning, striking Martian Manhunter with a bolt of lightning.
But just as the lightning struck, Martian Manhunter's figure flickered, becoming semi-transparent. After the lightning subsided, he returned to normal and instantly turned to look at them.
The instant his gaze met Martian Manhunter's, Thor from the main universe was struck as if by lightning. He felt a buzzing in his head, followed by dizziness and blurred vision, with everything appearing double.
But that wasn't all; he gradually felt his body slipping out of his control. The Thor of the main universe gripped Mjolnir tightly, took a deep breath, and shouted, "Allfather, grant me power!!!"
The divine light shone again, and with it, Thor became immune to some of the mind control. But while he was still stunned, the green-skinned monster had already rushed in front of him, took a deep breath, and blew it out at him.
To Thor's shock, this was no ordinary wind, but a molecular storm. Upon contact with this storm, the molecules in his body were gradually being eroded. He quickly moved away, watching Martian Manhunter with apprehension.
At the same time, he was also inwardly annoyed. When he was given the information about the opponent's abilities, he was so focused on the Justice League's Big Three that he only glanced at the others. He hadn't expected that there was such a powerful figure in the Justice League.
However, seemingly realizing their disadvantageous situation, Loki quickly relayed the message to all of Thor's communicators. He resent Martian Manhunter's information to them. Thor in the main universe took the opportunity of retreating to quickly glance at it.
Martian Manhunter can manipulate himself and the molecules around him at the limits of the universe, granting him superhuman strength and speed. He also possesses an ability Superman lacks: the ability to completely etherealize his body, becoming a "nothingness" from which no one in the real world can affect him, and this transformation occurs without any conditions.
Therefore, he can transform into a phantom form when the opponent attacks, causing the opponent's attack to miss; while when he attacks, he can solidify and deal a fatal blow to the opponent.
At the same time, he possesses an extremely terrifying regenerative ability; even if his head is severed, he can instantly regenerate. He can be viewed as a moving mass of molecules, much like a symbiote in the Marvel Universe. Ordinary physical damage has no effect on him; even lightning composed of divine power can only regenerate if it fails to destroy all the molecules at once.
These abilities seemed terrifying, but it wasn't until Thor in the main universe read to the end that he understood the significance of Loki sending them so much information at this time. He immediately looked up and roared at his counterpart, "He's afraid of fire! Martian Manhunter is afraid of fire!!!"
The other Thors also saw this, and they all used their divine power to ignite flames in an attempt to force Martian hunters back.
Martian Manhunter was indeed terrified of fire; even a small flame forced him to retreat repeatedly.
Seeing that things were not going well, the Flash from the main universe immediately ran out of the Speed Force, grabbed Martian Manhunter, and then used the Speed Force to send him onto the Green Lantern ship.
“The Flash!” shouted Hal, the leader of the Green Lantern Fleet.
The other Flashes immediately understood his meaning, and golden light flashed across the arena. Almost instantly, the Flash had transported all the Martian Manhunters onto the Green Lantern. The Green Lanterns then used their Green Lantern powers to protect the Martian Manhunters from the flames.
While this deprived Martian Manhunter of his close-quarters combat abilities, it allowed them to focus on mental manipulation. His mental powers transformed into sharp swords, relentlessly piercing his opponents. Those struck suffered varying degrees of shock, ranging from complete loss of control to attacking their own teammates.
Once again, as he charged forward, the main universe's Thor, feeling a sharp pain in his head, finally couldn't take it anymore. He raised Mjolnir high and shouted, "Professor X!!!"
“I am here.” Professor X’s voice remained calm. “While I can help you avoid this influence, you can actually do it yourself. First, try to protect your mind with divine power to expel his influence. Then, loosen your defenses slightly and use his attacks to hone your mind. This way, you will gradually become immune to mental attacks. You can do it.”
"No!" Thor from the main universe growled in pain, "It's impossible, I really can't do it. My divine power can only expand outwards, it can't reach my mind at all! Tell me what to do!"
"Follow me." As soon as Professor X finished speaking, Thor found himself in a white, misty space. He was standing in a plaza, the pattern of which resembled the training grounds of Asgard.
"This is your mental world. Don't worry, the speed of thought is different from the speed of the outside world. No matter what we do here, time in the outside world is almost standing still."
A voice appeared out of nowhere. Thor from the main universe turned around and saw an incredibly young face.
“Oh, Odin above,” Thor from the main universe couldn’t help but curse, spreading his hands as he looked at Charles and said, “How come you’ve become young again, and you can even stand up?”
“This is the spiritual world, Thor,” Charles explained somewhat helplessly. “What I look like doesn’t matter. I’m just here to teach you how to use divine power to defend against spiritual attacks.”
"I know learning this would be good for me, right? But there's no need to do it now, I'm on the battlefield." Thor from the main universe said with a hint of anxiety.
“As I said, when you focus on your inner self, time in the outside world almost stops. So you can practice here to your heart's content until you learn it, without affecting any battles in the outside world.”
Seeing Thor's expression in the main universe, Charles added, "You feel you can't control your divine power internally because you lack practice in this area. Your brother Loki can do it very well because he's a highly skilled magician. If it were him, he wouldn't be in such a predicament."
"Are you kidding me?" Thor from the main universe said. "If he came, with his skinny arms and legs, Wonder Woman would practically smash him into a pancake in no time! He wouldn't even last a minute against Martian Manhunter!"
Charles was speechless for a moment, unsure how to retort. But he still said, "In short, you have to learn this, otherwise you'll always be at a disadvantage when facing psychics. Do you want to get beaten up by Martian Manhunter and then slink back home with your tail between your legs?"
Thor from the main universe took a deep breath, weighed the hammer in his hand, and said, "Alright, you tell me how to train?"
"Focus your attention as I teach you, then guide divine power into your mind..."
